Women Doing Men Things

This image portrays how most women contributed to the war and proved that they can actually handle the factory just as men could.  This picture clearly depicts how women were able to build things just as men could.

if you see something say something

The way this poster is design is that the title which is "if you see something say something" is written in black ink. Then in the middle of the poster would be a picture of a bag loaded with weapons then at the bottom of the poster would be a little message saying"dont hesitate to speak, no one would know u spoke"

The whole idea of "if you see something say something" poster is one way that the citizen of the united state can help during wartime. For example if a person knows anything about a plan that involve attacking a particular place in the united state, that person should say something, they shouldnt hesitate because no one would know who said it.

Life in the households during World War II was miserable. Families didn't know whether their husbands or fathers would ever come back home. In this household, we have a mother and son waiting for their husband/father to come home. It is midnight when the child begins yelling:

Timothy: MOM!!!
Mom: Yes timothy, whats wrong? (out of breath)
Timothy: I had a nightmare that dad was never coming back. That he was all broken up into pieces and will never see my face again! (crying)

Timothy and his mom start hugging and cried together.

Mom: Oh sweetie, let out the pain. Don't worry we'll see him one day even if it takes our whole lifetime.
Timothy: What pain? I am just scared that might happen but it was just a dream. Dad told me he's coming back soon. He promised. And we are going to see him, right? Right? (desperate)
Mom: Im sorry, that wasn't a dream son.

my poster depicts a mass of people (on the right) who had the choice to take the weopon ( downleft) and go out to participate in the war effort, or starved themselves otherwise (that little slice wouldn't had feed so many people). Aldolf Hitler and the Japan gorvernor (on the upper right) looking at the people showing off their power as superiors and letting them know that whatever decision they made, they were doomed to die. the reason i didn't make faces and their black garb, it is my way to represent their emotions: sadness and hopeless.

American Women and the WAR

It's not enough that we fill our husband's, brother's or father's shoes at their jobs, that we aide in war goods production, or that we ration out our everyday supplies in support of our troops. Jewish Refugees in WW II

I decided to take on the subject of Jewish refugees during World War II. More specifically, I decided to focus on the masses that were rejected admission into the United States before and during the time they were involved in the war. Due to laws that were passed in the 1920's, more specifically The Emergency Quota Act of 1921, and the Immigration Act of 1924, it became very difficult for many immigrants as well as German Jews who were seeking refugee from the Nazis to be admitted into the country.

Since I have no artistic skills whatsoever, I will describe the idea that I have been thinking about. The cartoon basically depicts New York Harbor, with a ship in the foreground. The ship is full of German refugees. the boat is shown sailing away from the harbor. In the Background, you see the statue of liberty with a Nazi insignia on her sleeve and torch. the whole city is lit by a somber, bloody red sky. In the bottom, it reads: "If we turn them away we're just as bad"

If such a political Cartoon had been created in the 1940's it would have caused a lot of controversy on many levels. First, Immigration was just as big an issue back then as it is now. Second, had it been created before the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor it would have caused even greater controversy because many citizens felt that the admission of the refugees showed that the country is not neutral after all

MY INVENTION

I never thought of creating something like this. After finishing it, I found it very anonymous. This is the poster I create of my own imagination and I based it on the Holocaust during WWII. The way I thought of the Holocaust is that Hitler killing all Jewish in Europe found it like a fun game. To me, he just acted like "oh I like this game lets keep playing." I think that what i want to illustrate by this poster which I made is that murdering all those people to hitler was like an honor. I think that his hatred was beyond our thouhts. Also, I want to point out where it says" So there is less pollution", Hitler in another way of Jewish as if there were garbage and they are just contaminating our planet.

SAM What happen Susie? (concerned)
SUSIE There’s this girl named Jan Lue who has been in a lot of fights this school year, and now she’s trying to be a bully.(trying to catch her breath)
SAM What happen Susie? Did she do anything to you?
SUSIE The people in my group that sit at my table. NOW all of our lunch boxes are broken and the worse part is our food was ruined on the floor so we couldn’t even eat!
SAM This is madness! What did the teacher say?
SUSIE (crying) Jan claimed she told the teacher before but the teacher heard her late so she just did it! She knocked it down! She planed it I tell you! planed it!
SAM What did she plan? What did she say to teacher? Tell me Sue!
SUSIE She said (sniff) she said(sniff) she saw a roach on our table. (Whining) but she never said she would throw our lunch on the floor like an animal. NOW everyone at my table is upset and hungry with no more lunch boxes and no more lunch to eat.
SAM Wait a minute…a roach???
SUSIE (angry) a roach! But she didn’t get in trouble so I told my friends in my group, don’t be afraid! Im going to tell my dear ol’ Uncle Sam.
SAM (standing up rolling up one sleeve) And I’m gland you did!
Don’t worry and don’t be afraid, your Uncle Sam will be on his way!
Down to the school yard I will go. WILL WE TAKE THIS? The answers NO!
I will handle the teacher Sue then take you to the zoo.
I will take care of Jan Lue, for our family and your group too.
And when its all said and done, you will have lunch and Jan will have none.
And I’ll have strength to give you a dollar, and later we’ll act like we weren’t even bothered.

Assignment for Monday 10/20: Different views on WWII

This is Mike coming to you live from the radio station WNEW. Here I have with me Mrs. Johnson, whose son is out at war. She came to talk to us today about the war that is going on in Japan. I, myself have also heard some news which I believe is going to SHOCK the American people. So without further ado lets get started.

Mike: Let me start off by saying, do you believe that the war in Japan is for a good cause?

Mrs. Johnson: In my opinion I believe it is because Japan deserves this especially after they destroyed Pearl Harbor.

Mike: I heard your son is out at war. Are you worried at all that he might not survive?

Mrs. Johnson: My son has always been strong and I have been praying to God everyday that he will survive. If he doesn't survive, he will die in glory.

Mike: Anyway, I heard some news yesterday about the war and even though the Americans are doing really well, many American and Japanese soldiers are already dead.

Mrs. Johnson: It shocks me to hear that we are all supporting the war back home, but in the mean time soldiers are still dying every second.

Mike: It is very eye-opening and I believe it is something that every American should hear. No matter how much we support our soldiers, most of them will end up dead by the end of the war.

Mrs. Johnson: I heard that this war is considered more brutal than World War I, but I believe it has a justified cause. If the Japanese would've never attacked us, we would've never entered the war.

Mike: Yes indeed,this war is considered very tragic, but I believe we should've tried for a compromise. Going into war right after Japan attacked us didn't really solve the problem between the U.S. and Japan.

Mrs. Johnson: But, you have to understand that the Japanese don't understand what it is to compromise. All they know is kill, fight, attack.

Mike: They may be portrayed as barbarians because of what they did, but they are human beings who should be mature enough to negotiaite a fair compromise.

Mrs. Johnson: I just have one last thing to say, "to my baby Jimmy out there, I hope you are okay and your mother will always love you". Thank you

Mike: Ok, wrapping up the end of our segment on WNEW, to the American people out there understand that this war isn't just about pride and glory. There are thousands and thousands of deaths going on at this moment. Think for a second and just wonder if going to war wasn't the decision that America should have chosen as a country.

Assignment (Poster) for Monday, October 20th

Now that I've finished reading.....

I think it was very unfortunate that during Hitler's reign as fuhrer there was a mass killing of German jews (in the thousands). What I didn't know what was those known as "gypsies", Roma and Sinti, were also killed. The United States was also guilty of punishing innocent citizens because of their race, as seen with the imprisonment of Japanese American families & 'resident aliens' being sent to a somewhat more humane version of a concentration camp (on U.S. soil). It's a shame that President Roosevelt made that an executive order. Tsk tsk.
Another interesting piece of information I learned was that the weather played an overlooked role in the war. D-Day was postponed by the "adverse weather forecast". Fighting, especially in mountainous regions, would be suspended for snow/cold related reasons, making movement difficult for any army.
The infamous atomic bomb. Do we all agree that one could have been enough? (not to say that an atomic bomb should have been used or was necessary....but if we really wanted to have Japan surrender why did we have to grace them with two?)
A few years ago I visited my sister at her military base in Germany. The first thing she pointed out to me was an office building atop a hill that overlooked all the smaller buildings. Right in the middle of the building, in all it's WWII glory, was a swastika. The building was purposely designed like that. This army base was a former Nazi base. Go figure.

World War II

I think it is interesting how all the countries allied together to create and maintain power in case the countries were at war. Germany had secret allies. Together all those allies were trying to dominate and control certain countries and regions of the world. Germany secretly allied with Japan, which attacked the U.S creating tension with many of the various countries in the World. The World war began because of Germany. Many of the wars created, lives lost, tension, insecurities and financial debts. Germany was rightfully blamed. But, if Germany was not blamed and made to pay all the debt the destruction brought, then Hitler probably wouldn't have risen to start another war. It was also, interesting to see how Hitler was able to manipulate other countries to believe in what he was doing. The idea that there was a dominant race with certain physical characteristics might have turned some countries against Germany. I wonder how he even came to think this. Why did he believe this? Why does the dominant race have blonde hair with blue eyes?

Glorious Atomic Bombs in WWII

Ending the war with Atomic Bombs did somehow changed the world and the lives of many people. I believe that the US played the big "role" in this war. Thus, it caused the many loss of many lives. However, it was the only way of putting a balance and bring peace around the world. Therefore, it also ended the terrifying and horribles plans of Adolf Hitler, who planned out to kill all Jew in Europe. As I still remeber, the first bomb was dropped in Hiroshima and the second in Nagasaki City, Tokyo. I know that bombs somehow are not that glorious but in this case of WWII they were. It is not right to think that bombs are always the solution to war, but in WWII they were necessary. Thus, it brought peace even though it killed many people. I recommend to all to watch Pearl Habor the movie on Chanel 43 @ 7 p.m. It is really based on the Pearl Harbor attack in Hawaii. If you saw it, do not see it again. However, it is very romantic and heart kinded.

War World Two

Since middle school, I have been studying about World War 2 and every time I get to read more about it, I learn more new things. My basic overview of this War starts off with Hitler becoming the leader of Germany and him wanting to control as many countries as possible. He entered Czechoslovakia and once this happened Britain and France came into defend Czechoslovakia. Hitler started this mass chaos between all countries that were the allies and the axis. Only the neutral countries were saved. There were many people involved in this war and the most important were Stalin, Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt. There were very important battles during the war, Pearl Harbor, and after, the Holocaust. Germany had to surrender the War in 1945 when the allied powers (America, France, Britain and Russia) closed in on the city of Berlin. As the result of the war, there was much detestation and help along with peace was needed. Some peaceful moves that occurred was the creation of the United Nations, and the injunction of the Nuremberg Trials. Nevertheless, it is hard to remember this War without including the deaths of millions of people. Only 6 million alone died during the Holocaust!

WW II Issues

When I read about the issues that went on before, during and after WWII, I learned that many technological changes going on in the world affected the U. S. as well as other parts of the world. Many Americans were working in cities rather than rural areas. A new economy emerged dominated by unregulated industrial capitalism that caused many conflicts. More and more immigrants were joining the US labor force. Meanwhile down south, blacks were being denied the right to vote and exploited economically.What interested me about WW I was how Germany lost to France, England and the US. The Germans were blamed for starting the war and had to pay for its many repairations. I believe that this great defeat for Germany caused them to rely on Hitler when he rose to power and led to the creation of the Nazi party and the Holocaust.
It amazes me how Hitler had the power to influence the entire country of Germany and pu them all under the Nazi spell. Germamy began invading many countries such as Austria, France and Belgium. He wanted to prove that Germany was superior to every other country. As WW II o started to arise the US promised to not intervene, however when they were attacked in 1941 by Japanese forces at Pearl Harbor, the US felt it was there duty to fight in battle against Japan. Even though the US didn't want to be involved in the war it was for the better because it ended economic trouble that was going on for a long time during the Great Depression. I didn't agree with the fact that the US dropped the atomic bomb on Japan. I beleive there could've been another solution to ending the war between the US and Japan. Even though the end of WW II left the US as the most powerful nation, the Cold War soon changed that.

Civl War: Our choosing of articles

I'm pretty shy person in class and I don't like to talk that much. I wanted to explain my articles here plus give an example of our todays war. I read two articles one from the North and one from the south. They both were attacking eachother about the causes of the war. North wanted Tariffs Slavery and state rights to be gone and the opposite goes for the South. While thinking of this I put it into todays standards and went out of the box for a little bit. I may go off topic but its something I wanted to share with everyone. The belief of slavery in the civil war was important but I don't belive that was the exact goal for united states to end it. I know it was important but everytime there is a war its always about money. In what I believe the underlying truth to the whole Civil War was Tariffs and State Rights. These both were hated by some politcal officals. They wanted a way to take them away because Tariff had to high taxes put on and State Rights wasn't exactly put well. Now comes something I wanted to discuss. Throughout the years there has been many wars and many issues. George Bush went to war because he wanted to defeat "Terror" which he thought Iraq had Nuclear weapons. That was a bullshit lie and people who believed it are dumb. The truth was he wanted to go after Hussien and his oil. People get manipulated by media so many times... Whats to believe anymore. Now I ask am I right or everything falls down by choice or by nature?

Civil War necessay?

I think that the South was never willing to give up slavery to the North. The Civil War pushed the South to realize the it wasn't right for the country to become seperated over slavery. The beginning of the civil war definately gave slavery a push out the door because the North had way more soilders on their side then the South. Either way slavery would never have lasted longer than it did due to the North's actions in the Civil War.

Civil War: Necessary?

So readers, after thinking through Seward, Calhoun and Lincoln, do you think there was some way the Civil War could ahve been avoided? Do you think slavery could have come to an end w/o war? If so, how long would it take? Would five (or ten or fifty) more years of slavery have been better than war?
